Satellite Photos Show A Significant Decrease In Pollution During The Quarantine In Italy

As Coronavirus is spreading throughout the world, the number of people infected with Coronavirus is increasing rapidly.

With the lockdown of Italy, the emission of nitrogen dioxide has significantly decreased – the European Space Agency (ESA) declared.

The decrease in the emissions of NO2 in air pollution was detected in the northern part of Italy, especially in Po Valley.

Even though there was a change of the weather, the manager of Copernicus Sentinel-5P Satellite stated that the decline of nitrogen dioxide emissions may be a result of the traffic reduction caused by the lockdown of Italy.
